Accessibility

My Safe Foods is built for neurodivergent individuals. Accessibility is not an afterthought here. It is central to the product's purpose.

Design principles

• Plain language. We avoid idioms, metaphors, and ambiguous phrasing. Sentences are kept short.
• Sufficient contrast. Text and interactive elements are designed to be legible.
• Touch targets. Interactive elements are at least 44x44px.
• No time limits. No timed sessions or auto-dismissing alerts on critical actions.
• Reduced motion. We respect the prefers-reduced-motion setting.

Known issues

The barcode scanner requires camera access and may not be usable with all assistive technologies. A text-based search alternative is always available.

The recipe editor is a rich-text environment and may have limitations with some screen readers. We are working to improve this.
